LOTUS Temple Coimbatore


Nice to meet you all again through my blog (Perceptions). This article is about one of my short Evening visit to the Light of Truth Universal Shrine (LOTUS) Temple which is located at Chettipalayam, Coimbatore. It is a unique temple in the Kongu region dedicated to the Light of all faiths and world peace.

LOTUS is always one of the special Flower. LOTUS is considered as flower of Purity. It represents the purity of Heart and Mind, Long Life, Health and good Fortune. This could be a reason for the structure of the temple.

This is the birthplace of Sri Swami Satchidananda, who preached that “Truth Is One; Paths Are Many”. As he realized, there is no deity in this temple instead there are 12 light rays representing 12 major religions across the world.

A Coimbatore based renowned private organization is maintaining LOTUS temple currently. Restoration of the birth house of Sri Swami Satchidananda was completed recently. One can effectively spend an hour or two in this beautiful unique venue - The LOTUS Temple. There are a lot of greenery places for photo shoots as well. There is a cafe operating within the premises for visitors to rejuvenate themselves. There is also a small fountain in the entrance to welcome the people. Ample car parking facility is also available.


A minimum fare of Rs.20 (INR) is collected as an Entrance Fee to enter inside the Lotus Temple. Inside the temple, one can find a lot of unique things, notable things about each religion. Every festivals of every religion is celebrated in a grand and traditional manner. There are some full time management staffs and few college enthusiasts who helps us in understanding the complete design.

  • (Tuesday Holiday)
(It is preferred to Visit the LOTUS Temple in the evening. You can enjoy a pleasant climate and beautiful lighting effects)

Nearest Pass Time Attractions

  • Kari Motor Speedway (A very famous Formula 3 auto racing circuit located approx 3 KM away from the LOTUS Temple)
  • Eachanari Temple (One of the famous landmark of Coimbatore is approximately 7 KM away from LOTUS Temple)
  • GD Naidu's residence where Mahatma Gandhi stayed (Photograph Attached. It is approx 7 KM away)
  • Golf Course Club (A posh area for Golf sport is approx 1 KM away)


How to Reach LOTUS Temple

  • Visitors from Palakkad & Pollachi road, can reach Malumichampatti Junction and take the route to Chettipalayam (Map from Malumichampatti)
  • Visitors from Northern part of Coimbatore, reach Ukkadam, and travel to Pothanur Chettipalayam route either via Aathupalam or Ramanathapuram. (Map from Pothanur)
  • Visitors from Sulur take Bypass route and travel till Pothanur Chettipalayam road Junction from there to Chettipalayam (Map from ByPass)
  • Visitors from Palladam take Palladam Chettipalayam route (Map from Palladam)

School Field Trips

LOTUS temple management is very happy to have school children to the Premises. Many schools have visited the premises. It is safe, clean and students gain the knowledge as well. A perfect place for School Field Trips.

Other Pass Time in LOTUS Temple

Monthly once there are some events happening in the premises. Usually Sunday evening hours is dedicated for events like Knowledge Sharing, Debate, Orations etc. If you wish to contribute or participate please feel free to contact the management.
